Coaching

I would like to be a coach, assistant coach, or team parent. What should I do?

First, THANK YOU!  Every youth sports program depends on the spirit and energy of volunteers.  Every year we need more coaches, assistants and team parents.  SBSC depends on parents to fill all these positions.  Please contact the Division Coordinator or the Club's Registrar for the appropriate age group if you are interested.  The “Coaches” tab on our website has lots of information too.  In addition, when you register, you'll have an opportunity to indicate that you're interested in volunteering.

What is required to be a coach?

All requirements for coaching are set by US Club Soccer and the State of California. You can find detailed information under the “Coaching Resources” tab on our website

What is required to be a team parent?

Organization and enthusiasm!  The team parent is the liaison between the Coach and other parents.  The team parent usually puts the team roster together, assigns the snack schedule, disperses the picture day information and/or planning the “End of the Season Party”.  In addition, the coach may make other requests, such as asking the team parent to make a few phone calls reminding parents and players of practice times, game changes, etc.
